research和investigation区别是单词属性、时间、程度的不同。

1、research既可以做名词用，也可以做动词使用；investigation只能做名词

2、research指“系统化、细致地研究，以在某个领域中取得新发现或得出结论”。“research”和“investigation”相比耗时更长。“research”既包括学术性研究，也包括市场研究等其它类型的调查。

3、Investigation在表示“调查学术性课题”的时候，强调“通过观察事实、分析原因等方式探究特定问题的过程”。“Investigation”不能指“市场、商业调查”。

4、Investigation还有另一层含义，即“以了解真相为目的的，对某个影响不好的事件进行调查”。
